The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team hit 17 three-pointers but it was not enough, as the Falcons dropped a 124-112 neutral site game to Emory University at the Maryville Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday afternoon.

FIRST HALF

Both teams came out firing in the first half, with Pfeiffer taking the early 14-9 lead after a Josiah Avington three-pointer.  Emory fought back to tie the game at 24-24 at 13:06 on a three-pointer from Matthew Schner.

Pfeiffer would then take the 49-43 lead after Jamaal David connected on a pair of free throws at 5:39 but Emory fought back to take the 50-49 lead on another three-pointer, this time from Romin Williams at 3:24. Emory would then surge ahead 58-52 and would take the 62-57 lead into halftime.

SECOND HALF

In the second half, the Eagles would jump ahead 77-68 only to see the Falcons fight back to trim the deficit to 77-75 on a Taylan Rowe basket with 15:52 left.

Pfeiffer would tie the game at 83-83 with 13:51 left and again at 93-93 after Jerome Savoy scored while being fouled.  His free throw gave Pfeiffer their final lead of the game at 94-93.

Emory then kept Pfeiffer at bay, not allowing the Falcons to mount another comeback in taking the 124-112 win.

As a team, Pfeiffer connected on 17 three-pointers (17-of-39) for 43.6% and a 48.8% (39-of-80) outing from the field.  The Falcons were also efficient from the free throw line in the loss, shooting 70.8% (17-of-24).

The Falcons will travel to Young Harris College on Monday, Dec. 2 for a 5:00 p.m. exhibition game with the Division II Mountain Lions.
