2023-24: Dave Calvert enters his third season coaching Cross-Country and Track & Field for Pfeiffer. 
In his second year, Madison Lowery won the USA South Cross Country Individual Championship. Lowery would go on to finish second at the NCAA Division III South Regional, qualifying for the NCAA Division III Championships, a first for a Falcon Cross Country runner. Lowery also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors during the Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field seasons as a distance runner. Among that year’s accomplishments, Calvert assisted individuals with the programs in earning 2 USA South All-Conference Honorable Mention honors, 4 USA South All-Sportsmanship honors, 16 USA South All-Academic honors, 5 USA South All-Conference honors and as a program, won USTFCCCA All-Academic Team Award. 
Prior to Pfeiffer, Coach Calvert was at Davidson College and coached jumps, hurdles, combined/multi events, and throws. He holds USATF Level 1 Certifications (Throws, Combined, Jumps, Sprint/Hurdles, Distance) and USATF Level 2 certifications in Sprints/Hurdles, Jumps, Combined and USCCCTFA Level 2 certification in Throws and Masters level in Throws and Horizontal Jumps. He has for over 35 years and has coached All-American and National Qualifier athletes. He also is a USACCCTFA Nationally Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach. 
Coach Calvert is also a USATF Certified Official with experience including officiating at the NCAA Division II Championships and the USA National Junior Olympic Championship. 
He was the 2017 NCISAA 2A Track and Field Coach of the Year. Previous coaching experience includes coaching at the high school level. In addition to coaching numerous individual state champions his team also won the 2017 NCISAA Championship. He began the Strength and Conditioning program at Concord Academy. Coach Calvert also taught as a Science teacher and served as a high school principal (and still coached).  He was selected as the 2015 Youth Commission International National Teacher of the Year. 
As a college athlete Calvert competed in football, track, and cross country. As a high school athlete, he competed in football and soccer. His football team won the Florida State Championship (14-0) and he played on the USA All-star soccer team that competed in the Pan Am Games.  
Coach Calvert coached numerous high school athletes that continued their athletic careers on the collegiate level, not only in cross country and track/field but also soccer. Coach C has and continues to coach post collegiate athletes as well. 
Personal: Coach C has been married for 31 years to Jennifer Calvert, an author/writer, an avid runner, former Wake Forest student-athlete, current part time missionary, and a former school counselor in Concord, N.C. Their daughter, Cassie Calvert, was a National Merit Scholar who graduated from Duke University, competed in the Boston Marathon and currently is the Social Media Manager for the Baltimore Ravens. Coach Calvert is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, sponsors the Pfeiffer University FCA, and currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Cabarrus County FCA.
