    Volunteer Assistant Coach - Cross Country/Track & Field
Zach Marchinko will begin his new role with Pfeiffer University as a Volunteer Cross Country and Track & Field Coach in the fall of 2025. 

Marchinko began his running career at
Jesse Carson High School in China Grove, N.C. where he excelled in cross country and track, earning All-State Honors several times.
 
Marchinko went on to run four years at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, earning All-Conference honors in cross-county four times, one-time all-southeast regional honors, one-time east preliminary qualifier in the 10,000m and was a part of four Conference USA Championship teams while with the 49ers.
 
Marchinko currently serves as head coach of cross-country, indoor and outdoor track at Jesse Carson High School, where he serves as a special education teacher.

Over his first three years coaching withn the Cougars, he has had county, conference and regional championship teams in cross-country and track.

Marchinko earned Rowan County, SPC conference Coach of the Year awards and was nominated for North Carolina Cross Country Coach of the Year in 2023 after guiding numerous athletics  o all-county, all-conference, all-region and all-state awards.
