MARS HILL, N.C. - The Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team (2-0) improved its February record to 13-1 over the last four years with a 13-9 win at Mars Hill (0-1) on Saturday afternoon. Blade Garlow had four goals and an assist, while Cole Sheen added three goals and a helper in the victory.
Pfeiffer scored six of the first eight goals in the game and grabbed the upper hand early. Garlow got the Falcons on the board at the 11:43 mark of the first quarter and Kyle Enkelmann followed with his first career goal. After a Mars Hill tally, the first frame would end with Pfeiffer up 2-1.
The Falcons erupted for five goals in the second quarter, led by two apiece from Sheen and Kyle Pauwels. The Falcons went into the half with a 7-3 advantage.
Pfeiffer outscored the Lions 4-1 in quarter three to take a commanding 11-4 lead. Mars Hill was able to cut the lead to four but would get no closer the rest of the way as the Falcons rolled to victory.
Mars Hill held a 33-28 lead in ground balls as each team fired 31 shots in the contest. The Lions were able to stay close as they converted 4-of-5 man up opportunities.
Kenny Robertson had a solid game on the defensive end for Pfeiffer, causing three turnovers and scooping up six ground balls.
A.J. Seip led Mars Hill with 3 goals and an assist and Nathan Stewart added two goals and three assists.
The Falcons return to action next Saturday as they host Queens in non-conference action at 3 p.m.
