Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Can't Recover After Slow Start Against Southwestern
Misenheimer, N.C. (March 15, 2019) – Southwestern University scored nine first quarter goals and held the Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team to one goal in the opening quarter in a 21-9 win over the Falcons at Lefko Field on Friday night.

John Allen led all Pfeiffer scorers with five goals while teammate Jared Nelson added three goals and three assists in the loss. Jacob Leone scored the other Falcon goal.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Southwestern would bolt out to a 4-0 lead before John Allen scored on a man-up opportunity with 3:54 left in the quarter. Southwestern would get three straight goals from Kai Knight-Turcan to go up 7-1 and added two more goals inside the final 45 seconds of play to lead 9-1;
Allen would open the scoring with an unassisted goal, but the Pirates claimed two more goals to take the 10-2 lead. Allen scored again with 4:47 before halftime on a Nelson assist and following two more Pirate goals, Nelson capped the scoring with an unassisted goal just 23 seconds before halftime, to pull to 13-4.
Southwestern would get the first two goals of the quarter to go up 14-4. Allen added a man-up goal on another Nelson assist, which would prove to be the only Falcon goal of the quarter.
The Falcons scored four straight goals to open the fourth quarter, with the first coming on a man-up opportunity, with Allen scoring on another Nelson feed.
Nelson would get then next goal on a Jacob Leone assist while Leone scored with 6:50 remaining after receiving a nifty pass from Jaylin Jones.
Nelson would fins the Falcon scoring at the 4:34 mark when he made it 18-9.
Southwestern would add three more goals inside the last 3:30 of the game to post the 21-9 final.
Pfeiffer takes to the road for a USA South game against Averett on Sunday, March 17. Face off is slated for 1:00 p.m. in Danville, Va.
