Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Falls on the Road To Piedmont
Demorest, Ga. (Oct. 20, 2018) – The Pfeiffer men's soccer team dropped a tough 3-2 road decision at Piedmont College on Saturday afternoon in Demorest, Ga.
Piedmont jumped ahead 1-0 less than three minutes into the match on a Cameron Earls goal on an assist from Joes Linares. Earls was able to get the short through-ball and beat Pfeiffer goalkeeper Sebastian Zertuche (Chula Vista, Cal.) and deposit the shot into the open net.
Pfeiffer was able to tie the match in the 50th minute thanks to an own goal, but less than six minutes later, Piedmont surged ahead 2-1 on a Garrett Moore goal.
Pfeiffer's Chris Brown (Sneads Ferry, N.C.) netted his sixth goal of the season at the 72nd minute mark when Caz Dabrowski (Fuquay-Varina, N.C.) delivered a pass that displaced the Piedmont goalkeeper. Brown then shot from just inside the box to tie the match at 2-2.
Piedmont would get what would be the game-winner in the 79th minute when Earls flicked a shot over the Falcon keeper after receiving a pass from teammate Nick Pope.
The Falcons outshot Piedmont 16-9 in the loss and earned four corner kicks.
The loss drops the Falcons to 7-8 overall and 3-7 in USA South action while Piedmont improves to 8-4-3 and 6-2-3 in league play.
