Pfeiffer Men's Soccer Falls to Drew, 5-1
Newark, N.J. (Sept. 8, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University men's soccer team dropped a 5-1 decision to Drew University at the Brick City Classic hosted by Rutgers-Newark on Sunday.
The Rangers opened the scoring in the 22nd minute and added another goal at 26:15 to jump ahead 2-0, a lead they would take into the halftime break.
Pfeiffer cut the lead to 2-1 at 53:51 when Caleb Bratager (Wake Forest, N.C.) scored with the assist from Haile Eve (Sandy's, Bermuda).
Drew's Aiden Cserhat scored his second goal of the match at 62:44 to stake the Rangers to the 3-1 lead, then added his third goal at 70:49 to make it 4-1.
The Rangers would close the scoring at 82:24 when Mike Dilger beat Pfeiffer goalkeeper
David Chavarria (Franklinville, N.C.) to provide the eventual 5-1 final.
All told, the Falcons managed eight shots, with three being on goal compared to Drew's 18 shots, with eight being on goal.
Chavarria made three saves for the Falcons, who fall to 1-2 on the season while Drew improves to 3-1 overall.
Pfeiffer returns to play on Saturday, Sept. 14 when they open the home slate with a 2:00 p.m. USA South matchup with Piedmont College at Lefko Field.
