MISENHEIMER, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons (0-1) men's tennis team fell 6-3 to the Catawba Indians (1-1) on Thursday at the Knapp Tennis Center in a non-conference match. Sophomore Thomas Hubble won each his matches in singles and doubles.
In first position of doubles, Hubble and partner Bjorn Barwinski took down Catawba's Michael Patch and Ryen Reid, 8-4. Catawba took the next two doubles matches as Axel Woerner and David Weir lost to Lucas Miller and Luca Picci, 8-5. Trey Speight and Brandon Marchant also went down as they lost to Adam Rocko and Brad Smethurst, 8-5.
In the first position singles, Patch defeated Woerner 6-1, 7-6 (10-4). Pfeiffer rebounded in the next two positions as Barwinski topped Miller, 7-5, 6-2. Hubble was victorious in the third position 7-6 (11-9), 6-2 over Picci. Catawba took the next position with win due to the retirement of David Weir. Marchant fell to Rocko in the fifth position by the score of 6-3, 6-4. Brad Smethurst took the last position in singles for Catawba as he defeated Trey Speight, 6-2, 6-0.
The Pfeiffer men return to action as they compete in the ITA Regional in Sumter, SC on Friday, September 30th.
