GREENSBORO, NC – The Pfeiffer Falcons (0-2) men's tennis team dropped a heart-breaking match to Guilford College (1-0) on Wednesday by the score of 5-4.
The day started with Guilford winning the first two positions of doubles as Bjorn Barwinski and Thomas Hubble fell to Tate Godwin and Mesa Martorell, 8-7. Levi Bruff and Graham Pearson defeated Pfeiffer David Weir and Brandon Marchant, 8-5. The Falcons rebounded, 8-4, in the third position as Eduan Louw and Bradley Batten beat Mark Wasilewski and Mason Church.
The Falcons won the first three positons of singles as Barwinski from the first position was victorious over Godwin, 4-6, 6-2, 10-6. Hubble defeated Martorell, 6-0, 6-4. In the third position, Weir took down Mason Church, 6-2, 7-5. The Quakers took the last three positions of singles on the day when Bruff was dominant over Batten, 6-1, 6-1 out of the fifth position. In the sixth position, Wasilewski struggled to put away Marchant, 6-7, 6-4, 10-6. The fourth position of singles saw Louw go three sets and fall to Pearson, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 and to clinch the Quaker victory.
The Falcons return to play this coming February to start their spring season as they take on Catawba in Salisbury on Valentine's Day.
