Men's Tennis Coasts to 9-0 Victory Over Virginia State

Petersburg, VA – The Pfeiffer University men's tennis team (3-3) eased by Virginia State, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon to win its third straight match of the 2017 campaign.

Thomas Hubble and Bjorn Barwinski defeated VSU's Sultan Kenes and Jonathan Fuchs from the No. 1 doubles position, 8-2, to set the tone for the Falcons. Axel Woerner/Raul Ruiz won their No. 2 doubles set with the same score, and Brandon Marchant/David took care of business at No. 3, 8-1.

After dropping his first game, 3-6, Pfeiffer No. 1 Axel Woerner was able to rally for a victory over Sultan Kenes in singles play, claiming the final two sets, 7-5, 10-2. The Falcons' No. 2-6 coasted to give the team the 9-0 match win – its third in just over a week.

Pfeiffer will challenge Division I opponent Gardner Webb in Boiling Springs, NC, today at 2 p.m.
