MISENHEIMER, N.C. – On Wednesday, the Pfeiffer (1-1) men's tennis team in their second match of the season was unable to knock off Catawba (1-0). The Indians were able to take the first five singles matches and two of three in doubles to win 7-2.

In singles out of the first position, Bjorn Barwinski squared off with Ryen Reid. Both players went to a first set tiebreaker as Reid won 7-5 (7-1) and then went on to win 6-2 in the second. In the second position, Carson Heirs defeated David Weir 6-3, 6-2. Adam Rocko knocked off Thomas Hubble 6-2, 6-4 out of the third position. Samuel Schwarz took care of Eduan Louw from the fourth position 6-4, 6-1. The fifth position looked to be a turnaround effort for Pfeiffer as Raul Ruiz took set one 6-0, but Vid Rados took the win as he took the next two sets in convincing fashion 6-1, 6-1. Kyle Klinek got the Pfeiffer a win over Chris Derrick in straight sets 6-1, 6-1.

In doubles, the only Pfeiffer win came out of the second position as Hubble and Ruiz defeated Reid and Heirs 8-2. Pfeiffer almost took the first position as the team of Barwinski and Weir pushed Miller and Picci to a set breaker as the Catawba contingent was able to pull out the win 8-7 (7-1). Indians' Rocko and Schwarz defeated Louw and Ethan Elliott 8-2.

Pfeiffer returns to action in the spring to start their season at Johnson C. Smith on February 10th.
