Track and Field Shows Great Improvement at Conference Meet

WINSTON SALEM, N.C. - The Pfeiffer men's and women's indoor track and field teams competed in their first ever Conference Carolinas meet and showed significant improvement. The men placed seventh while the women were ninth as Pfeiffer had plenty of impressive showings.

On the men's side, Matt Chavers placed sixth in the weight throw, finishing with a mark of 12.83 meters. In the shot put, Joshua Fuqua finished with a throw of 13.0 meters which was good for a fourth place finish. The distance medley relay team of Christian Ray, Kennard Massie, Dillon Edwards and Brandon Boyd secured a time of 11:06.90 to come in fifth place. Additionally, Henry Furman and Boyd each ran well and finished just outside of scoring.

ChyAnn Ketchum led the women's team as she finished in the top five in two events. Ketchum's 12.92 meter weight throw placed her fourth, while her 10.9 meter toss in the shot put earned her a fifth place finish. Jazmine Miller was the highest placer for the Falcons as she took third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 9.18 seconds. Teammate Jayde Kemp also posted a strong time in that event, finishing sixth in a time of 9.7 seconds. Kylie Spencer blazed through the mile in 5:47.83 which put her in ninth place in the competition.

Most of the athletes in competition out competed their seed times and marks as the young Falcon program is beginning to blossom. As the indoor season comes to a close and the outdoor season begins, the future is bright for the new program.
