WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The 2016 Conference Carolinas Indoor Track & Field Championship were hosted for the third straight year by JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Sunday. Pfeiffer was led by sophomore Matt Chavers who claimed the school's first Conference Carolinas track and field championship in the weight throw competition as he threw 16.13 meters.
Along with Chavers, freshman Dakota Freeman finished in ninth place in the one mile run with a time of 4:50.44 and 13th position in the 800 meters. The team of Chris Laughlin, Josh Wilhoit, Cody Kelly and Brandon Boyd finished third in the men's distance medley with the time of 10:58.83.
In the women's track compeition, Kylie Spencer shined as she took home a third place finish in the one mile run with a time of 5:18.21. With a time of 2:25.13, Spencer also took home a fourth place finish in 800 meters.
In women's field competitions, ChyAnn Ketchum finished in 6th place with her best throw of 10.68 meters.
The Falcons men's and women's team s will start their outdoor season on Friday, March 4th at the Braves Classic in Pembroke, N.C.
