ASBURY TAKES SECOND IN JAVELIN AT PHOENIX INVITATIONAL

ELON, N.C. – One week before the Conference Carolinas Championships,  Pfeiffer Falcon Jess Asburyhad another excellent performance in the javelin throw at the Phoenix Invitational on Saturday as the junior finished second  with a throw of 35.87 meters.

Asbury's teammate Alex Crouch finished eighth in the javelin with a throw of 26.37 meters. In other women's field action, ChyAnn Ketchum finished sixth in the hammer throw of 36.37 meters. Asbury also competed in the hammer throw and finished one spot behind Ketchum in sixth place with a throw of 30.75 meters. In the shot put, Ketchum placed seventh with a throw of 10.33 meters.

On the track, senior Jazzmine Miller competed in two events; the 200 meters where she placed 22ndwith a time of 26.50 and the 100 meter hurdles where the sprinters placed seventh as she finished with a time of 14.62.

On the men's side, sophomore Brandon Boyd took a eight place finish with a time of 4:11.22 in the 1500 meters. Freshman Sean Bryant compted in the 100 meter and 200 meter sprints where he finished 13th and 19th respectively. 

As a team, the Falcon women placed seventh on the day with a score of 22.5.

The Falcons travel to Banner Elk, N.C. on Friday for the Conference Carolinas Carolinas Outdoor Track Championships.
