Track & Field Completes Day One of USA South Outdoor Championships

Berea, Ky – The Pfeiffer Falcon's track and field teams competed in day one of the USA South Track and Field Championships held on the campus of Berea College.

The highlight of the day came from sophomore Jonathan Brindle who became the first-ever USA South event winner and also became the first Pfeiffer athlete to win a USA South Championship. Brindle threw a meet record, school record and personal best throw of 46.81m (153-7).

Tiffany Bartholomew landed a podium finish in the women's javelin. Sitting in 7th place going into her last throw, Bartholomew threw a 28.62m (93-10.75), a 4-meter personal best, to move into 2nd place where she would finish.

Pfeiffer also saw a pair of podium finishes from the men's and women's hammer throw. Klay Gill landed a 2nd place finish with a throw of 41.74m (136-11.25). Tonishea Ford finished 3rd overall after throwing 36.94m (121-2.25)

Kenan Waltower was the final podium winner on the day for the Falcons. Waltower took bronze in the 110m hurdles running a school record and personal best time of 15.37.

The Falcons also saw many notable performances in the prelims of the 100m and 200m races. For the men, Sean Bryant was an automatic qualifier in both races. Bryant won both of his heats which placed him in the finals which will be contested on Friday. Bryant ran a wind-legal 10.89 in the 100m dash which broke the school record. Bryant followed that performance up with a 22.65 in the 200m dash.

Tiffany Bartholomew was able to grab the 8th position in the final with her run of 12.95 in the 100m dash. Kenan Waltower ran a personal best time of 22.54 in the 200m dash to join Bryant in the 200m final.

Through eight events scored, the men's and women's team sit in 5th place overall. Friday will see the conclusion of the meet. Live results can be found at the link below:
