Pfeiffer University Athletics has announced the hiring of Jenn Flaherty as the sixth head coach in women’s lacrosse history on June 13, 2017. Flaherty has plenty of knowledge of the Falcons as she joins the Pfeiffer family after six years as head coach at Conference Carolinas opponent Belmont Abbey College.
Flaherty’s Crusaders advanced to the semifinal round of the conference tournament in all six of her seasons, including a trip to the championship game in 2012. Belmont Abbey never finished lower than fourth in the league standings during Flaherty’s tenure and twice finished in second place. Flaherty finished her career at BAC with a 58-44 overall record and a 30-15 record in conference play.
In 2017, Flaherty coached the league’s Scholar Athlete of the Year Katelin Glass and has coached 33 Academic All-Conference selections. Under Flaherty, Katy Conner led Division II in ground balls in 2014 and a total of 28 Crusaders were All-Conference selections.
Prior to Belmont Abbey, Flaherty coached at Apex High School and was named the North Carolina Coach of the Year as she led the Cougars to a 20-0 record and a State Championship. In her two years, Flaherty posted a 36-2 record.
Flaherty will guide the Falcons into a new era as this will be their first year as a NCAA Division III program and member of the USA South Athletic Conference.
Flaherty played attack for the University of North Carolina and graduated in 2009 with a bachelor’s in Exercise and Sports Science. During her time in Chapel Hill, Flaherty was named to the ACC Academic Honor roll.
