Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Extends Winning Streak to Four With 3-1 Victory at Salem

The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team secured their fourth-consecutive win with a 3-1 road decision over Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C. on Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons got on the board first when after a breakaway, Cayci Eaton (Harrisburg, N.C.) scored her sixth goal of the year after receive a pass from Meredith Manson (Auburndale, Fla.) in the 27th minute.

Salem knotted the match at 1-1 just after halftime when Ellie Montes slotted a shot past Falcon goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla.).

In the 72nd minute, Mackenzie Pruitt (Havelock, N.C.) provided the game-winner when Allison Gonzalez (Charlotte, N.C.) provided a pass that led to Pruitt's sixth goal of the season.  Pfeiffer added an insurance goal in the 90th minute when Kelsy Esquivel (Charlotte, N.C.) scored unassisted for her second goal of the year.

The Falcons once again dominated play, outshooting Salem 20-8 and earned four corner kicks on the afternoon.

With the win, Pfeiffer improves to 9-2 on the season and 5-1 in USA South play while Salem falls to 6-11 and 3-3.

Pfeiffer will return home on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 20 to host N.C. Wesleyan.  Kickoff is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at Lefko Field.
