Pfeiffer Women's Soccer Gets 2-0 Road Win at Southern Virginia

Buena Vista, Va. (Sept. 5, 2019) –
The Pfeiffer University women's soccer team scored once in each half en route to a 2-0 win over homestanding Southern Virginia on Thursday afternoon.

The Falcons got on the board quickly as Kelsy Esquivel (Charlotte, N.C.) received a pass from
Gabby Bosak (Mt. Pleasant, S.C.) and fired it past SVU keeper Savannah Uri giving Pfeiffer the 1-0 lead in the sixth minute.

SVU had a chance to tie in the 28th minute but senior goalkeeper Kaley Hyatt (St. Cloud, Fla0 came up with the save to preserve the Falcon lead.

The Falcons held a sizeable 6-1 first-half advantage in corner kicks and also outshot SVU 7-6 in the opening half.

Just a little over four minutes into the second half, Bosak notched her second assist of the match while Hailey Metzger tallied the goal to provide the eventual 2-0 score at the 49:16 mark.

The win improves the Falcons to 2-1 overall while Southern Virginia drops to 1-2.

Pfeiffer will next be in action on Sept. 14 when they take on Edgewood in Richardson, Texas as part of the University of Texas-Dallas Tournament.
