SPARTANBURG, SC -- The Pfeiffer swimming team earned a split at the Converse meet today, losing to the host Valkaryies but defeating UNC Pembroke for the second time this season.
The Falcons were led by a strong showing from senior Allison Lindsey. Lindsey took home a first-place finish in the 1650 yard freestyle, winning the grueling race by 4:25 over Julia Campbell of Converse. Later, Lindsey would have enough in the tank for a second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing in a time of 1:02.46.
Fellow senior Mireia Van Riet earned a win in the 200-yard backstroke, touching in a time of 2:25.15. In the 200-yard IM, Van Riet grabbed a third-place finish.
The Falcons also received a first-place finish from sophomore Tiffany Bartholomew. In the 50-yard freestyle, Bartholomew finished with a time of 26.17 and won by 1.5 seconds.
In the final event of the meet, the quartet of Lindsey, Bartholomew, Van Riet and Alevtyna Kalashnik earned a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
The Falcons return to action next Friday when they travel to Greensboro to compete against Guilford, Sweet Briar and Greensboro. The meet will begin at 6 p.m.
