Swimming Takes Dual Meet Win at Salem College

Pfeiffer Swimming Takes Dual Meet Win at Salem

Winston-Salem, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women's swimming team, led by a trio of freshmen, won half of the 10 events in Saturday dual meet victory over Salem College by the score of 113 - 63.

Nyah Hines was the biggest rookie winner, touching first in three events; the 50-yard backstroke (34.43), the 50-yard freestyle (29.77) and the 100-yard freestyle (1:04.76).  Fellow freshmen Kara Robertson and Simone Norton-Abad each picked up a win, Robertson in the 50-yard Butterfly (32.97) and Norton-Abad the 100-yard backstroke (1:12.99).

Veteran Tiffany Bartholomew added three event wins as well in the 200-yard Freestyle (2:13.81), 100-yard butterfly (1:06.20) and the 400-yard freestyle (5:01.56).  Her time in the butterfly established a new school record. Mary Rhyne added victories in the 50-yard breaststroke (37.23) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:18.57).

 The Falcons return home to the Merner Gym pool to take on William Peace on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1:00 p.m. in the final home meet of the fall semester.
