Brevard, N.C. -- The Pfeiffer women's tennis team defeated Brevard 6-3 on Friday afternoon. This was the first match for the team on the spring season. Juliana Batah defeated Brevard's number one player Kelsey Kushner, coming from behind beating her 5-7, 6-1, 10-5.
Anna Branson also collected a win for the Falcons, defeating Jen Cox 6-2, 6-1. Other winners in singles play for Pfeiffer were Ally Delaney, who won 6-3, 6-1, and Sydney Honeycutt, who defeated her opponent 3-6, 6-2, 10-1. Madison Furr and Maddie Hatley came up just short in their singles matches, with Furr losing to Mekenzie Bowman 6-2, 7-6, while Haley was defeated by Carmen Boone 6-7, 6-2, 11-9.
In doubles competition, the team of Batah and Delaney defeated Brevard's Kushner and Cox 9-8. Branson and Honeycutt also teamed up to defeat Brevard's Margaret Correll and Mekenzie Bowman 8-1.
The Falcons look to continue their winning ways as they hit the court again on Wednesday as they travel to Belmont Abbey. The match is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
