Pfeiffer Volleyball Splits Two Saturday Matches

Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 1, 2018) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team split a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon at Merner Gym.

The Falcons picked up their first win of the season with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-18) win over Mid-Atlantic Christian.  Freshman Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) led the way for the Falcons, as she knocked down a team-best 13 kills on the afternoon, finishing with a .308 hitting percentage.  Teammate Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) also had a productive outing with 12 kills and a .455 percentage.

Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) dished out 41 assists in the win and also had nine digs and an ace against the Mustangs.

Defensively, Emma Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had 12 digs while Fardella and Myasia Jones (Hurlock, Md.) each had a pair of block assists.

In match two, the Falcons dropped a tough 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 19-25, 24-26) decision.  Against the Panthers, Clouse had 17 kills and a team-high24 digs.  She also managed a pair of aces.  Beacham and Fardella continued their stellar defensive play, contributing 22 and 20 digs, respectively while Weber had 13 in the loss.  Fardella also had five aces in the loss.

Pfeiffer now stands at 1-3 on the season and will take to the road for the first time this upcoming Wednesday, Sept. 5, taking on Randolph.
