Pfeiffer Volleyball Downs Ferrum and Truett-McConnell

Misenheimer, N.C. (Aug. 31, 2019) –
The Pfeiffer University volleyball team ran their record to 3-0 as they took a pair of home matches on Saturday in Merner Gym.

In match one, the Falcons jumped all over visiting Ferrum College, winning by a 3-0 (25-7, 25-22, 25-5) margin.

In set one, the Falcons took control, jumping out to a 14-2 lead and never looked back.  The lead would swell to 18-3 following an ace from Gabby June.  Ferrum would cut the lead to 22-7, but Pfeiffer scored the last three points to take the 25-7 win.

Set two was more competitive, with the Falcons prevailing by a 25-22 count.  Ferrum held a 12-10 lead, but the Falcons went on an 8-2 run, pushing their lead to 18-14 after a Panther error.   Pfeiffer eventually took the 23-17 lead and closed out the set with a kill by Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) making it 24-17.  Another attacking error by Ferrum ended the set, with Pfeiffer claiming the 25-22 win.

The third set was all Falcons, as they bolted to a 9-1 lead.  Pfeiffer never looked back taking the third set by a convincing 25-5 mark.

Collectively, Pfeiffer hit for a .216 percentage while holding Ferrum to a -.075 mark on the afternoon.

Clouse led the way for the Falcons, as she tallied 10 kills and had seven digs.  Junior libero Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) and Fardella each returned 11 digs in the match, with Fardella adding 13 assists to lead the Falcons. Freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) and junior Myasia Jones (Hurlock, Md.) also had great outings, as each had four kills, with Jones finishing the match with a 1.000 hitting percentage.  Jones also had two solo blocks to lead the Falcons.

Pfeiffer kept their season record perfect with a 3-1 (25-21, 12-25, 25-23, 25-18) win over Truett McConnell in the third match of the afternoon.

Clouse again led the way with 14 kills and a team-best 22 digs for the Falcons while Fardella dished 29 assists and 11 digs.  Beacham added 13 digs on the afternoon while freshman Kaitlyn Kilts (Madison, N.C.) had 15.

Wyatt just missed double-figures offensively, as she knocked down nine kills, finishing with a .350 hitting percentage on the match.

Pfeiffer will return to play on Wednesday, Sept. 4 with a 7:00 p.m. road match at Guilford.
