Falcon Volleyball Grabs 10th Win in 3-0 Sweep Over Methodist

Fayetteville, N.C. (Oct. 1, 2019) –
The Pfeiffer University volleyball team swept home-standing Methodist University 3-0 (28-26, 25-14, 25-23) in a USA South match on Tuesday night at the Riddle Center in Fayetteville, N.C.

Pfeiffer sophomore Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) and freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) led the way, finishing with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Wyatt had a spectacular offensive outing, hitting for a whopping .600 percentage on 15 total attempts.

Sophomore setter Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) continued her solid play by supplying 33 assists to go along with a team-best three aces in the win.  She also added nine digs and had a block assist.

Defensively, Wyatt managed two solo blocks and one assisted block for Pfeiffer.  Clouse added 10 digs to finish with the double-double.  Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had a great match defensively as well, finishing with a team-high 23 digs on the night.

Also contributing offensively were senior Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) and freshman Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.), as they combined for 15 combined kills, with Weber going for eight and Burris contributing seven.

The win improves the Falcons to 10-4 overall and 1-2 in USA South play.  Methodist drops to 2-10 overall and 1-3 in league action.

The 10 wins for the Falcons marks the most wins in a single-season since 2011, when the Falcons finished 10-15 overall. 

In addition, the 10-4 start is the best since the 2008 season, when Pfeiffer started 12-2.  That season, Pfeiffer finished a program-best 27-6.
