Pfeiffer Volleyball Falls Twice at USA South Tri-Match

Raleigh, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on Saturday at a USA South Tri-Match hosted by William Peace University in Raleigh, N.C.

In the first match of the afternoon the Falcons fell to the host Pacers, 3-0 (23-25, 22-25, 17-25).  Against WPU, the Falcons managed just a .104 hitting percentage. Freshman middle hitter Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) led the way with eight kills along with fellow freshman Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.), who managed six.

Junior Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) led Pfeiffer defensively with 19 digs.  Burris also had a great defensive effort with two block assists and two solo blocks.  Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) had a team best 27 assists in the loss.

In the second match of the afternoon, the Falcons suffered a 3-0 (23-25, 20-25, 21-25) setback to Averett.

Against the Cougars, sophomore hitter Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) was the only Pfeiffer player to managed double-figure offensive numbers, finishing with 10 kills.  Fardella supplied a double-double with 23 assists and 11 digs to go along with Beacham's team best 16 digs.

Pfeiffer now stands at 10-6 overall and 1-4 in USA South play.

The Falcons will return to play when they host Salem College on Tuesday, Oct. 8 for a USA South match at 7:00 p.m. at Merner Gym.
