Randolph Downs Pfeiffer Volleyball, 3-1

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 11, 2019) – Visiting Randolph College downed Pfeiffer University in nonconference volleyball play in Merner Gym on Friday night by a score of 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 23-25, 23-25).

Freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) finished with a match-best 23 kills while Randolph's Mackenzie Ambrose had 21 to lead the WildCats.

All four sets were close, as there were a total of 20 ties and 11 lead changes throughout the match.  In the first set, Randolph claimed the 25-22 win, hitting for a .300 percentage while holding Pfeiffer to just a .098 effort. In the set, Randolph had eight blocks against the Falcon attack.

The Falcons struck back in set two, taking the 25-21 win to tie the match at 1-1.  Wyatt managed nine kills in the set and also contributed a solo block and had a block assist to key the Falcons to the win.

Randolph was able to take the third and fourth sets by identical 25-23 scores to claim the 3-1 win.

All told, Randolph combined for 20 block assists and a pair of solo blocks, finishing with 12 total blocks on the night while Pfeiffer was limited to just three put-backs at the net.

Sophomore Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) had another double-double outing, going for 15 kills and a team best 17 digs.  Setter Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) dished 35 assists for the Falcons in the loss.

The loss drops Pfeiffer to 11-7 overall while Randolph improves to 10-9 on the season.

The Falcons will jump back into USA South play on Saturday, travelling to Mary Baldwin to take on the host Fighting Squirrels at Noon followed by a 2:00 p.m. with N.C. Wesleyan.
