Pfeiffer Volleyball Falls to Averett and William Peace

Danville, Va. (Oct. 26, 2019) –
The Pfeiffer University volleyball team dropped a pair of matches at a USA South tri-match on Saturday afternoon, falling to host Averett by a 3-0 score and to William Peace by a 3-1 count.

In the first match of the afternoon, the Falcons managed just a .109 hitting percentage against the host Cougars, falling by scores of 18-25, 19-25 and 18-25.

Freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) led the way with 12 kills and had a pair of block assists. Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) and Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) each managed six kills for the Falcons.  Clouse also had 11 digs and a block assist while Burris contributed a block assist and one solo block.

Junior Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had 25 assists on the afternoon while freshman teammate Kaitlyn Kilts (Madison, N.C.) had 15 digs.

In the second match of the day, William Peace downed Pfeiffer, 3-1 (18-25, 15-25, 25-22, 15-25)

Against the Pacers, senior Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) had a team-leading 12 kills while hitting .242 . Clouse managed 10 kills and 16 digs on the afternoon while Wyatt had eight kills and a block assist.

Beacham once again led Pfeiffer with 37 assists while Lili Jaramillo (Oakboro, N.C.) and Kilts finished with 14 and 13 digs, respectively.

As a team, Pfeiffer managed a .127 hitting percentage while William Peace logged a .208 percentage.

Pfeiffer now stands at 12-13 overall and 3-10 in USA South play.

The Falcons will head to Winston-Salem, N.C. on Wednesday, Oct. 30 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup with Salem College.
