Melanie Wilson begins her fifth year as the Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, Senior Woman Administrator, and SAAC advisor at Pfeiffer University in the 2023-24 academic year. She was designated as Pfeiffer Athletics Diversity and Inclusion Designee (ADID) in 2020-21 and is Pfeiffer's Title IX designee.

Along with her traditional compliance and academic support responsibilities, Wilson also oversees much of the department’s internal operations and game management duties. In addition, Wilson started as an adjunct professor in sports management department beginning in the 2021-22 academic year. 

Wilson joined Pfeiffer after previously serving for five years at Queens University in nearby Charlotte, N.C. While with the Royals, Wilson served as assistant softball coach for one season and was quickly elevated to head coach in 2012.

While at Queens, she coached a South Atlantic Conference Athlete of the Year, an All-Southeast Region Player, had one first team All-SAC selection and four named second team All-SAC. In the classroom, her players garnered eight Academic All-SAC honors and one named All-State by the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Directors Association (NCCSIA).

Wilson began her career in colligate athletics as a graduate assistant softball coach at Kean University in Union, N.J. During her time at Kean, the Division III institution collected conference championships in 2010 and 2011 while advancing to NCAA regional post-season play in consecutive years. 

A native of New Jersey, Wilson was an NCAA Division I softball student-athlete at Elon University in Elon, N.C..  As a student-athlete, Wilson was a four-year starter in the pitcher's circle at Elon. In her career with the Phoenix, she played in 119 games, hit 17 home runs and collected 80 RBI.

Wilson earned SoCon Pitcher and Player of the Week honors in 2007 and 2008 and earned second-team All-SoCon honors in 2008. She still holds several statistical records for the Elon softball program.

Wilson received a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology/Human Services from Elon University in 2009 and a Master’s of Public Administration from the Kean University in 2011.
