Kathleen Mirgon Crum

Kathleen Mirgon enters her second season as head women's lacrosse coach at Pfeiffer University in 2023.

Hired in the summer of 2021, MirgonĀ arrived in The Village after spending the spring 2021 season at fellow USA South memberĀ Piedmont University. Prior to her duties at Piedmont, she spent the previous two seasons as a graduate assistant coach and recruiting specialist at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania.

In her first season at the helm of the Falcon program, she led the team to a 5-11 overall mark and a 4-6 record in USA South play.Ā 

She earned her first career win as a head coach on March 15, 2022, in an 18-12 road win at Brevard.Ā  The Falcons defeated rival Greensboro College later in the year by a 14-1 score and closed the season on a two-game winning streak by beating William Peace and N.C. Wesleyan.

In her first season, Mirgon helped guide Alexis Murriel and Jordan Pendergraft to second team All-USA South honors.Ā  Murriel led the NCAA in ground balls per game (6.19) and was second nationally in caused turnovers per game (4.31).Ā  Pendergraft finished the season with 163 saves, second amongst USA South goalkeepers.

As a team, the Falcons set the school record for caused turnovers in a season (219) and Alexis Murriel set a program record for caused turnovers in a single game with eight against Southern Virginia.

Additionally, she had three Falcon players (Ashley Bragg, Alyson Hanlon, Alexis Murriel) earn IWLCA Honor Roll Honors and had one player (Analise Robinson) earn USA South Rookie of the Week.

In her first season in Demorest, Mirgon helped guide the Lady Lions to a 9-6 overall record that included a perfect 6-0 mark in conference play and a USA South West Division Regular Season Championship. The Lady Lions then advanced to the USA South Tournament Final. On the individual side, Mirgon helped four Lady Lions earn All-Conference honors.

Previously, MirgonĀ assisted in the day-to-day operations of Bloomsburg's nationally ranked Division II program including recruiting, practice and game preparation, and organizing and supervising lifting and conditioning sessions.Ā 

Mirgon has had multiple coaching opportunities in her career including serving as a head coach in theĀ SWAX Lacrosse League since 2014 and an assistant coach withĀ NXT LC Girls Lacrosse since 2019. She has also helped coach with the Atlanta Storm Girls Lacrosse Club (2020-22), the Lake Murray Rapids Lacrosse Club Elite (current).

She also has experience as a group fitness instructor and speed and agility coach.Ā 

She also represented the USA in the AIST Amsterdam Lacrosse Tour in 2018, competing in both Amsterdam and Paris.Ā 

Mirgon was a four-year member of the Shippensburg women's lacrosse team, earning IWLCA Academic Roll Honors in 2018 as well as being named a PSAC Scholar Athlete.Ā  Additionally, she was a Tau Kappa Honors Society Member.

Prior to playing at Shippensburg, she was a US Lacrosse High School All-American in 2014 while playing at Chapin High School in Chapin, S.C.Ā  She was also named SCHSL Midfielder of the year in 2014 and was a two-time member of the South Carolina National Team (2012 & 2013).Ā  She is the current record holder for the state of South Carolina in single season goals and ground balls.

She earned her bachelor of arts in communications/journalism with a dual minor in exercise science and coaching from Shippensburg University in 2018. She completed herĀ master's degree in exercise science in 2020 from Bloomsburg University.
