Misenheimer, NC---Pfeiffer softball improved to 10-15 with a sweep of Meredith Monday afternoon. In game one Amanda Beck pitched a complete game two-hit shutout to lead Pfeiffer to an 8-0 win. Game two saw the Pfeiffer win 12-1. GAME ONE Pfeiffer scored in every inning to win 8-0 in a game shortened to five innings due to the eight-run lead rule. RBI singles by Dacia Ijames and Jaimee Cassidy gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the first. Ijames doubled home two in the second to increase the lead to 4-0. Jessica Culler singled in Stephanie Brandt in the third to build the Pfeiffer advantage to 5-0. Chelsea Morton doubled in Brittany Lewis in the fourth. Pfeiffer ended it in the fifth. Tiffany Allen drove in Culler and Lewis followed with a double to drive in Allen to end the game 8-0 Beck dominated on the mound. She struck out three while giving up only two singles.  GAME TWO Pfeiffer jumped out quickly in the bottom of the first with four runs. Culler had a 2-RBI triple and Morton doubled in Culler. In the bottom of the second Stephanie Bethea tripled and came in on a Martina Bullard ground out. The Falcons exploded for seven runs in the bottom of the fourth. Jaimee Cassidy tripled in two and Morton and Romeo each had RBI singles. The Falcons also scored on a couple of Meredith errors. Dacia Ijames started and pitched two shutout innings. Chelsea Morton pitched three innings and gave up only one unearned run. Pfeiffer will host Fairmont State Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 2:00 pm . |
