Softball's Offensive Continues to Roll in DH Sweep at Johnson C. Smith; Coach Vullo Wins 100th Career Game

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The Pfeiffer University softball team scored a season-high 13 runs and pounded out 18 hits in game one to cruise to a doubleheader sweep at Johnson C. Smith on Monday afternoon. The Lady Falcons win their fourth and fifth-straight games, including Coach Vullo's 100th career win, improving to 18-22 overall while dropping the Golden Bulls to 8-23.

Sam Jarmusch and Celia Dew picked up early RBI in the first frame while Jessica Jackson started the second by stealing home. Hannah Jackson would make it 4-0 in the second on a single back up the middle. A Johnson C. Smith error in the third and single to left by Russell made it 6-0. Pfeiffer opened things up with three more in the fourth and four in the fifth as a Sadie Saine two-run bunt single helped end game one in five innings.

Hannah Jackson ended the opener 4-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored while Jarmusch and Russell each picked up three hits along with Emily Workman. Jarmusch would pick up her fifth-straight win tossing a four-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. The Lady Falcons would steal 12 bases in game one before swiping nine in game two.

Pfeiffer would open up a scoreless game two in the top of the fourth as Russell again came up big with a two-run single down the left-field line. A Tyresha Ellis sacrifice fly would put the Lady Falcons up 3-0 moments later. In the fifth, an Ashlee Ellen groundout made it 4-0 while Pfeiffer's final runs came in the seventh on a two-run, inside-the-park home run by Dew.

Pfeiffer gets back into Conference Carolinas action on Thursday traveling to Limestone for a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader with the Saints. Live stats will be available through http://www.gofalconsports.com.
