Box Score MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.- The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team dropped a tightly contested three set match to Mount Olive on Friday night. Sophomore Shenelle Charlot paced the Falcons with a team-high 10 kills and nine digs.
In the first set the Falcons fell behind 21-14, when a Talor Hewitt kill ignited a 4-0 run. The run was highlighted by a solo block by Kayla Hyatt. Charlot tied the game at 23 with a kill. The Trojans scored three of the last four points to win the first set 26-24.
In the second set Mount Olive took a 16-12 lead. The Falcons answered back by scoring six of the next seven points to take an 18-17 lead. During the run Charlot recorded a solo block and a kill. However, it was not enough as the Trojans scored eight of the final 15 points winning the second set 25-22.
Pfeiffer scored the first five points to start the third set, including two services aces by Charlot and a kill by Laura Ann Fortner. However, the Trojans scored six of the last eight points winning the set 25-19.
Alysha Burnett led the Trojans with 10 kills and seven digs. Montgomery Register and Danielle Plante each recorded 14 assists for Mount Olive.
Hyatt contributed six kills and eight digs for Pfeiffer. Erin Errington and Katie Wilson both ran the Falcon offense recording 12 assists apiece. Fortner added 5 kills, Hewitt contributed with four kills and two service aces.
The Falcons return to action tomorrow for a 2:00 p.m. match at Barton.
