MISENHEIMER,NC- In a battle for first place in Conference Carolinas, the Pfeiffer softball team (22-15,9-3 CC) spilt a double header with Limestone (19-10, 8-2CC) on Wednesday afternoon.
Sam Jarmusch shut down the Saint's offense in game one, striking out seven batters while only allowing six hits. Jarmusch didn't allow an earned run in a 7-1 Falcon victory. In game two, Pfeiffer only recorded three hits in a 6-2 loss.
Game one saw the Falcons start the scoring in the first inning, when
Julie Bullington grounded out scoring
Jessica Jackson from third base. With the game tied at one in the fourth inning,
Rachel Crowder gave the Falcons a 2-1 lead with an RBI double off the centerfield wall.  Pfeiffer added five insurance runs in the sixth inning, highlighted by an RBI double by Bullington. The Falcons batted around in the inning and recorded six hits including RBI singles by
Jaclyn Boever and
Jessica Jackson. Jackson and Bullington each drove in two runs while
Lindsey Russell recorded two hits.
In game two, Limestone scored four runs in the top of the first inning and scored six runs on 12 hits. ÂÂ
Rebecca Foil drove in the only two runs for the Falcons in the second inning with a double down the left field line, scoring Boever and Crowder.
Starting pitcher Josie Weber led the Saints, pitching all seven innings only giving up three earned runs and striking out six.
Pfeiffer returns home on Sunday, April 12 for a double header against Mount Olive. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m.
