BELMONT, NC- The Pfeiffer women's volleyball team (0-16) dropped a pair of matches on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons fell to conference rival Belmont Abbey (11-9) 3-0 and then lost their final match of the day to Fayetteville State (10-3) 3-1. Erin Errington put together an excellent second match recording a double-double, registering 12 kills and 10 digs for the match.
Belmont Abbey won the first match of the day in convincing fashion, the Crusaders hit .406 as a team , and had 37 kills. Lydia Sale paced BAC recording a match-high seven kills and recording a .385 hitting percentage.
In the second match Pfeiffer was able to bounce back after a first set loss, taking the second game by a score of 25-20. The Falcons had 14 kills in the set and recorded a hitting percentage of .333. With Pfeiffer trailing 12-9 Sydney Freeman ignited a 3-0 run with a kill. Pfeiffer ended the second set on a 7-3 advantage. Errington recorded two kills during the run.
Arlicia Ortiz led Fayetteville State with eight kills, while hitting a blistering .727, and recording 16 digs. Nakia McKinnie posted a match-high 19 assists for the Broncos.
Tiana Gildernew led the Falcons with 16 assists and five digs. Talor Hewitt chipped in with four kills, six digs and two services aces.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, October 21, as the Falcons host Lees-McRae. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
