BANNER ELK, N.C. - The No. 17 Pfeiffer men's lacrosse team (5-2, 1-0 CC) avoided an upset at Lees-McRae (1-5, 0-1) in their Conference Carolinas opener on Tuesday afternoon. Pauwels scored three of his four goals in the first half as Pfeiffer held an 8-4 lead going into the break. After Ben Austin and Matt Michaeli scored to start the second half, it appeared Pfeiffer would pull away. The Bobcats refused to back down as they closed out the third quarter by scoring four of the final five goals.

Trailing just 11-8, Stottlar cut the lead to two 44 seconds into the fourth quarter. Sheen single handedly willed the Falcons to victory as the senior scored two straight goals and three of the final five goals as Pfeiffer grabbed control of the game.

Michaeli finished with a solid line for Pfeiffer, posting three goals, two assists and five ground balls, while causing a turnover.

The win snaps Pfeiffer's two game losing streak. Pfeiffer looks to continue its winning ways with a matchup at Lake Erie looming on Saturday. Face off is set for 1 p.m.
