Lindsey's Win Highlights Women's Swimming Relaunch

MISENHEIMER, N.C. -- After a two-year hiatus, the Pfeiffer women's swimming program relaunched with a meet against Chowan inside Merner Pool on Saturday afternoon. Despite a 113-68 loss, a lot of positives were taken out of the return.

The brightest highlight came in the sixth event of the afternoon. Allison Lindsey took a first place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, touching .48 seconds ahead of Chowan's Megan Reid. The crowd was roaring as Lindsey swam toward the finish and willed the senior to a victory. Lindsey's time in the event was 1:02.42 and was Pfeiffer's first top finish on the day.

Lindsey also swam the grueling 1000 yard freestyle, a 40 lap event where Lindsey finished in 11:49.00.

Mireia Van Riet was also strong in the relaunch, claiming two second place finishes. Van Riet took home second with a time of 2:21.01 in the 200 yard IM and another second place finish in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:03.87.

Eva Miller claimed the only other first place finish for Pfeiffer on the afternoon, winning the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:28.27.

The Falcons will return to action next Saturday when they travel to Sweet Briar College for a 1 p.m. meet.
