Men's Basketball Goes Cold in Loss at Maryville

Box Score

Jeremy Zalacca - Director of Athletic Communications

MARYVILLE, TENN -- The Pfeiffer men's basketball team (11-2) suffered its second straight loss, dropping an 84-59 contest at Maryville (12-4) this afternoon. The Falcons were held well below their season average in scoring a shot a season-low 32.9 percent.

Playing for the second straight day, the Falcons ran into a Scot team that is a perfect 9-0 in USA South play this season. The Scots committed 27 turnovers but shot 50 percent from the field and went 14-of-29 (48.3 percent) from long range.

The Falcons just didn't have it on the offensive end today, hitting a season-low four 3-pointers and shooting a frigid 13.8 percent from behind the arc. Pfeiffer also struggled at the charity stripe, hitting just 7-of-17 attempts.

One of the bright spots for Pfeiffer was freshman Craig Sabb's career-high 13 point effort. The guard has now scored in double figures in three straight games. Josh Calhoun and Nolan Whitener each scored 10 points for the Falcons with Whitener grabbing seven boards and Calhoun adding four steals.

The Falcons will return to action on Wednesday with another tough matchup at Methodist. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in Fayetteville, NC.
