Women's Swimming Grabs Win Over Virginia Wesleyan
Misenheimer, N.C. – The Pfeiffer University women's swimming team earned their first victory of the season, downing Virginia Wesleyan 164-61 in Murfreesboro, N.C. over the weekend.
In individual events, the Falcons managed nine podium finishes. Tiffany Bartholomew took second in the 100m freestyle with a 1:05.62 while teammate Samira Wolf also took second in the 400m freestyle with a 5:34.89. Bartholomew also finished second in the 50m freestyle (29.48) while Ada McClendon finished third with a 34.11.
Jordan Petschelt posted an 11:53.21 in the 800m freestyle, also taking home second place while Natalia Gutierrez had a 35.29 in the 50m backstroke, also good for second place.
In the relays, the Falcon team of Gutierrez, Bartholomew, Wolf and Petschelt finished in third in the 200m medley relay with a 2:22.28. Pfeiffer also took third with McClendon, Mary Rhyne, Kayleigh Hunt and Elizabeth Palmquist finishing with a 2:38.00.
Pfeiffer also managed a second place finish in the 400m freestyle relay with Rhyne, Bartholomew, Lauren Walker and McClendon posting a 5:07.51.
The Falcons swimming team will return to the pool this upcoming Saturday, Nov. 3 with a home meet against Sweet Briar and UNC Pembroke. Start time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in the Merner Gym pool.
