Box Score Pfeiffer Men's Basketball Takes Win Over Birmingham Southern
Birmingham, Ala. (Dec. 15, 2018) –The Pfeiffer University men's basketball team used a fast start in both halves to take a 97-87 win over host Birmingham Southern in the final game of the Black Tie Classic on Saturday night.
After Pfeiffer jumped up 15-0 to start the game, Birmingham-Southern stormed back to take the lead for the first time, 23-22, with just over 10 minutes to go in the first half.
BSC and Pfeiffer battled into halftime with the Falcons holding a 45-39 lead over the Panthers at the break.
Just like the first half, however, Pfeiffer got off to another good start and held a 13-point lead over BSC with 11 minutes to play. The Panthers would end up cutting the deficit to four points as late as 1:10 remaining but never got any closer as Pfeiffer would hold their lead in the end and hand BSC the 97-87 loss.
Craig Sabb (Goose Creek, S.C.) scored a game-high 27 points for the Falcons, who finished the game shooting 41.5% (32-of-77) from the field while hitting 14 three-pointers. Blake Zieske (Belmont, N.C.) had 12 points while teammate Hank Conner (Salem, Va.) chipped in 11.
Tristen Rodriguez (Gastonia, N.C.) and D.J. Bradsher (Burlington, N.C.) completed the double-figure scoring for the Falcons with 10 points each.
The win improves Pfeiffer to 5-4 on the season while Birmingham Southern dropped to 8-3.
The Falcons will next be in action on Jan. 2 when they host William Peace in a USA South matchup.
