Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LAURINBURG, N.C. – The Pfeiffer baseball team (1-3) split a doubleheader on Friday, dropping a 16-12 game to Cumberlands and earning their first win of the season in a 12-8 contest against St. Andrews. The Falcons pounded out five home runs in the two games.

Game One

The Falcons faced an early 5-0 deficit but drew even with a 5-run top of the 3rd inning. Jordan Eckard knocked in a pair with an RBI double and Lambert followed with a 2-run bomb to right field. Bryan Kowalski singled to left to even the score at five.

However, the high-powered offense of the Patriots pushed across six more in the bottom of the frame to take a commanding 11-5 advantage.

Pfeiffer wouldn't give in and scored four times in the top of the fourth with RBI hits from Eckard and Christian Marciano. Eckard would come across on a wild pitch and Lambert scored on an RBI groundout by Mason Striplin.

The Falcons scored twice more in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 11 but the Patriots scored once in the bottom of the inning and pushed across four more in the bottom of the sixth to take the victory.

Cameron Reid suffered the loss on the mound, giving up three earned runs out of the bullpen.

Game Two

The bats stayed hot in the finale, scoring 12 more times. Pfeiffer trailed 3-0 after two innings but would score 12 straight runs to take the upper hand.

Marciano started the top of the third with an RBI double and scored on a base hit from Ira Dorin. A pair of solo homers by Perry and Eckard in the top of the fourth gave Pfeiffer a 4-3 advantage before a 7-run top of the sixth put the game out of reach. The Falcons banged out seven hits in the inning that was led off by Eckard's second solo shot of the game.

Each of Pfeiffer's first five hitters recorded a multi-hit game.

Nick Richmond pitched six innings and struck out seven to even his season record to 1-1. Peyton Williams tossed a scoreless seventh inning.

The Falcons will return to action with a doubleheader against these same two teams starting at 12:30 p.m. tomorrow on the campus of St. Andrews.
