Falcons Double Up St. Andrews; Win Streak Hits 15

Box Score

Misenheimer, N.C. -- The win streak hit 15 on Wednesday night as the Pfeiffer baseball team (27-7) doubled up the St. Andrews Knights (18-25) 16-8 at Joe Ferebee Field. It was all offense in this one, as the Falcons tallied 14 hits, 5 of which went for extra bases.

The bats for both teams got started early as the Knights got on the board in the top of the first off an error by shortstop Bryan Kowalski. Pfeiffer would then take their first lead of the game in the bottom of the second by coming through with 3 runs of their own. Kowalski would make up for his first inning error with an RBI single to tie the game at 1. Mason Striplin would then score on a passed ball to make it a 2-1 game. The third run of the inning came off an infield single by Derek Perry that glanced off the pitchers' glove to make the score 3-1.

After St. Andrews scored 6 runs in the top of the third, Pfeiffer would once again have an answer. The Falcons would score 6 times themselves in the bottom of the frame, capped off by a Jordan Eckard grand slam for his 10th homerun of the year. From there it was all Pfeiffer, as they would tack on 4 more in the fourth, 1 in the fifth, and 2 in the sixth to pull away from the Knights.

Other Falcons who had big days at the plate included Xavier Rodriguez, who went 2-5 with 2 RBI, and Christian Marciano, who went 2-4 with 2 runs scored.

It was a "Johnny wholestaff" type of game for the Pfeiffer pitching staff, as they used seven pitchers to bring home the win. Brodrick Rierson got the start for the Falcons, going 2 innings and giving up just 1 run. Dorion Parker would get his first win of his Pfeiffer career in relief by going 2 innings and giving up just 1 run.

The Falcons will take the field again this weekend as they travel to Covenant for a three game series starting Friday afternoon. First pitch Friday is scheduled for 4 p.m.
