Falcon Baseball Cruises Past St. Andrews, 9-1

Misenheimer, N.C. (March 13, 2019) – The Pfeiffer University baseball team battered St. Andrews pitching to the tune of 10 hits, taking a 9-1 nonconference win over the Knights at Joe Ferebee Field on Wednesday evening.

How it Happened
Pfeiffer got things going in the second inning when Zach Ferrell blasted a three-run shot to put the Falcons ahead 3-0.  After St. Andrews scored in the third, Pfeiffer extended the lead to 4-1 in the home half of the third inning when Mason Striplin supplied an RBI double that scored Hayden McGraw.

Pfeiffer made it 5-1 when Ira Dorin advanced to first on a dropped third strike.  Bryan Kowalski made the Knights pay, as he doubled to right center field, driving in Dorin from first.

Another run came across in the seventh inning to push the lead to 6-1 and a three-run outburst in the eighth inning made it 9-1. Kirby Lambert knocked in two with a double down the right field line.  Mason Striplin would later score on a passed ball to provide the eventual final score.

On the mound, Pfeiffer's Holden Carter earned the win, as he pitched five innings and allowed just two hits and one run while striking out five Knights.  Paul Gervase also had a solid outing, as he pitched three strong innings without allowing a hit.  Brodrick Rierson contributed on the mound, as he pitched an inning without allowing a hit.
