Pfeiffer Volleyball Sweeps Pair of Road Matches

Decatur, Ga. (Sept. 7, 2019) –
The Pfeiffer University volleyball team had little trouble as they swept a pair of nonconference matches, dispatching both Agnes Scott and Berea by identical 3-0 scores.

In the first match, the Falcons won over the host Scotties 25,7, 25-15, 25-7.  Pfeiffer got off to a quick start, jumping to a 14-2 lead and cruised in set one.  In set two, the teams battled to a 7-7 tie, but Pfeiffer started to pull away, going on a 10-3 run to push the score to 17-10, with Pfeiffer eventually taking the 25-15 win.

Set three saw more of the same, as Pfeiffer again jumped out to a big lead at 9-2.  The lead got to 23-5 with freshman Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) and junior Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) supplying the final two points to secure the match.

Sophomore Alonna Clouse (Harrisburg, N.C.) led the way with 16 kills on the afternoon while finishing with a .483 attacking percentage. She also managed seven digs and two block assists.  Wyatt finished with a .727 hitting percentage while knocking down eight kills while sophomore setter
Angelina Fardella (Harrisburg, N.C.) supplied 28 assists to go along with two block assists and one solo block.  Defensively, Beacham led the way with 10 digs while freshman Kaitlyn Kilts (Madison, N.C.) had eight digs.

In the second match of the day, Pfeiffer took down Berea by scores of 25-14, 25-15 and 25-23.  Clouse again led the way with 11 kills with Wyatt contributing eight kills in the win. Bri Weber (Jesup, Iowa) also delivered eight kills, finishing with a .250 hitting percentage.  Fardella secured a double-double with 29 assists and 16 digs while Beacham and Lili Jaramillo (Oakboro, N.C.) finished with 13 and 10 digs, respectively.

With the wins, Pfeiffer improves their record to 5-1 overall.  The Falcons will return to the court on Thursday, Sept. 12 with a home nonconference matchup with Piedmont International.  Match time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Merner Gym.
