Pfeiffer Volleyball Takes Down N.C. Wesleyan, 3-1

Misenheimer, N.C. (Oct. 5, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team battled back from a tough loss in set one, defeating visiting N.C. Wesleyan 3-1 in a key USA South match at Merner Gym on Tuesday night.

Junior Madison Honeycutt (Arroyo Grande, Cal.) led Pfeiffer with 15 kills and Morgan Shrader (Matthews, N.C.) contributed 13 kills.

As a team, Pfeiffer out-hit the Bishops, finishing with a .229 attack percentage compared to just a .146 percentage posted by N.C. Wesleyan.

Defensively, Mattie Burris (Misenheimer N.C.) and Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) continued their strong presence at the net, with Burris posting four blocks and Wyatt finishing with three.  Honeycutt also had a par of blocks for Pfeiffer.

Freshman Kylee Mayberry (Harmony, N.C.) led the way with 29 assists while Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) led the way with 21 digs.  Shrader and Emily Cole (Concord, N.C.) also had a great night defensively, with Shrader having 15 digs and Cole finishing with 12.

The Falcons will take part in a USA South quad-match this upcoming Saturday on the campus of Salem College in Winston-Salem, N.C.  Pfeiffer will take on Mary Baldwin at noon and will then take on Southern Virginia at approximately, 2:00 p.m.
