Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Soars Past William Peace 21-9

Cary, N.C. (March 17, 2021) The Pfeiffer University men's lacrosse team had no trouble with William University, taking a 21-9 USA South men's lacrosse win at the WakeMed Soccer Park on Wednesday night.

The Basics
Pfeiffer jumped out to a convincing 8-3 lead in the first quarter and held the Pacers scoreless in the second quarter, taking a 15-3 lead into halftime.

Sophomore Quinn Becraft (Huntersville, N.C.) opened the scoring for the Falcons at 12:51 of the first quarter.  William Peace would tie it at 1-1 with a man-down goal at 12:14, but the Falcons then went on a run, scoring five straight goals, with Becraft and John Allen (Lebanon, Ohio) accounting for three and two goals, respectively.

WPU made it 6-2, but Allen scored again to push the lead to 7-2.  Following another Pacer goal at 5:08, Becraft scored again with two seconds left to provide the 8-3 lead after the first.  All total, Becraft accounted for five goals in the quarter.

Pfeiffer continued their onslaught in the second quarter, holding WPU scoreless, while tacking on seven more goals.  Luke Cox (Winston-Salem, N.C.), Tucker Hill (Victor, N.Y.), Allen, Corey Choberka (Vestal, N.Y.), Becraft and Jared Nelson (Vestal, N.Y.) all got into the scoring column in the second quarter, with Nelson's goal coming just four seconds before halftime.

Each team scored three times in the third quarter, with Allen scoring twice, with his first coming during a man-up opportunity.  Trevin King, from nearby Apex, N.C., scored the first of his two goals on the night with 21 seconds left in the third.  King would also open the fourth quarter with an unassisted goal at 14:30.  Becraft would score another goal at 13:39 for another man-up goal for the Falcons while Allen had the final Falcon goal of the night at 2:17.

In all, seven different Falcons scored in the game while five different played logged assists.

Becraft would lead the way with eight goals and an assist while Allen had seven goals and an assist. Nelson dished a team-best six assists on the night.

Tucker Hill also played well defensively, as he managed 14 ground balls, which puts him in a tie for third-place in school history for ground balls in a single game.

Matt Stocks (Endwell, N.Y.) earned the win in goal as he made 10 saves on the night.
