Box Score Pfeiffer Men's Lacrosse Wins USA South Championship
Misenheimer, N.C. (May 8, 2021) – Pfeiffer University'a men's lacrosse team captured their first USA South Championship with a 17-13 win over Piedmont College on a sun-drenched Lefko Field in Misenheimer, N.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Pfeiffer wasted little time in getting into the scoring column, as Nu Kwan Fair raced through the middle of the Piedmont defense to score his third goal of the season at 11:41 of the first period. Pfeiffer would then go up 2-0 on a Corey Choberka goal at 9:26.
Piedmont tied the game with a pair of goals, the first from Avery Jenks and the latter from Chase Goff.
Pfeiffer stretched the lead to 5-3 on three Quinn Becraft scores, but again, Piedmont stormed back to take the 6-5 lead after a Phillip Watters goal at 10:16 of the second quarter.
Pfeiffer then built a 9-6 cushion on a pair of Choberka goals, sandwiched around a score from Trevin King.
Pfeiffer would take the 11-8 lead into halftime, but Piedmont clawed back to 11-9 on an unassisted goal from Brady Jenks to open the third quarter scoring at 7:18.
The Falcons then go up 13-10 after Trevin King scored with 3:25 left in the third.
Pfeiffer kept pressing, scoring the first two goals of the fourth quarter, with King and Jared Nelson notching unassisted scores to put Pfeiffer up 15-10. Piedmont would get a score from Chase Goff to make it 15-11, but John Allen would take a pass from King to put Pfeiffer up 16-11 with 10:47 to play.
Brady Jenks would score twice more for Piedmont and Jacob Leone would add another Pfeiffer goal to provide the 17-13 final, giving Pfeiffer the first USA South Conference team championship in program history.
Choberka was tabbed as the Tournament MVP after he led the Falcons with four goals on the afternoon. John Allen, Quinn Becraft and Trevin King notched three goals each while Leone scored two. Nu Kwan Fair managed one goal as did senior Jared Nelson. Nelson also added three assists in the win.
Goalkeeper Matt Stocks earned the win by making nine saves on the afternoon.

The win secures Pfeiffer an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. The NCAA will announce selections on Sunday evening at 9:00 p.m. via livestream at NCAA.com.
