Pfeiffer Volleyball Outlasts Salem in USA South Opener
Misenheimer, N.C. (Sept. 21, 2021) – The Pfeiffer University volleyball team rallied from a 2-1 deficit to outlast visiting Salem College in the USA South opener for both teams on Tuesday night at Merner Gym

Finding themselves down 2-1 to a winless Salem team, the Falcons battled back from an 18-23 deficit in set four with a 7-0 run to tie the match at 2-2.
Pfeiffer then jumped out to an 8-3 lead in the deciding set and would not allow the Spirits to get closer than three points the rest of the way, winning set five 15-12 to seal the 3-2 win.
Pfeiffer's
Reagan Wyatt (Stoneville, N.C.) led the way with 11 kills while
Lauren Shepherd (West End, N.C.) and
Madison Honeycutt (Arroyo Grande, Cal.) each managed 10 kills in the win.
Kylee Mayberry (Harmony, N.C.) dished out a match-high 36 assists while
Emma Gray Beacham (Laurinburg, N.C.) had a team-best 16 digs.
Mattie Burris (Misenheimer, N.C.) kept up her strong play at the net, as she had eight block assists and one solo block. All told, Pfeiffer managed 26 block assists in the match, limiting Salem to just a .180 hitting percentage.

Pfeiffer will travel to Danville, Va. to take part in a USA South tri-match hosted by Averett. Pfeiffer will take on Methodist at 5:00 p.m. and the host Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24.
