Pfeiffer Men Fall to Averett
Danbury, VA (January 25, 2022) – The Pfeiffer men's basketball team fell on the road 71-56 Tuesday night at Averett University.
The Falcons (5-6, 2-2 USA South) were led by senior
Jerome Savoy. Savoy poured in 13 points, shooting 50% from the field and 75% from the three-point line. Savoy was joined in double figures by fellow senior
Sean Scott who added 10 points.
Raja Milton came off the bench to lead Averett (8-8, 5-1 USA South) with 16 points and four steals. Bryce Shaw and Corey Baldwin each had 10 points on the night.
In the first half the Cougars used a 11-1 run to pull ahead by 12 points. The lead would grow to 13 points before the Falcons would claw their way back to an 8 point halftime deficit.
Pfeiffer would start the second half hot coming out with a 12-2 run which saw them take the lead 40-38 on a
Sean Scott layup with 15:10 left in the game. Pfeiffer would take a 3 point lead, their largest lead of the game, after a fastbreak layup by
Donnie Haith with 13:17 left on the second half clock.
With the game tied 45-45, the Cougars would go on a 26-7 run to end the game.
Despite the loss the Falcons shot better from the field than the Cougars 38% to 37.7% and hit more three pointers.
The Pfeiffer men's basketball team will return to action Saturday night, January 29
th, as they travel to Greensboro College for a USA South tilt.
