Pfeiffer Men Defeat Greensboro 90-84
Greensboro, N.C. (January 29, 2022) – The Pfeiffer men's basketball team traveled to Greensboro College on Saturday and came away with the 90-84 victory.
The Falcons (6-6, 3-2 USA South), put four players in double figures including a double-double night for
Dorian Miles. Miles scored 17 points and gathered 13 rebounds in 26 minutes of action. Miles shot 4-7 from the field, including 2-2 from the 3-point line and knocked down 7 free throws.
Jerome Savoy led the Falcons in scoring adding 21 points. Savoy shot 50% from the field and went 10-11 from the free throw line.
Sean Scott and
Craig Sabb were the other Falcon players to reach double figures. Scott dropped 15 points, while Sabb added 14 to go along with seven rebounds.
The Pride (6-11, 1-6 USA South) had two 20-point scorers on the night. Greyson Collins led Greensboro college with 21 points. Ty Hill came off the bench to score 20 points and dish out 5 assists.
The first half would be a back-and-forth affair as both teams would build 6-point leads. Tied at 43-43, the Falcons would close the half on a 4-0 run to take the lead into the break 47-43.
Pfeiffer would come out hot in the second half going on a 7-0 run to push the lead to 11 points. The Pride would battle back, bringing the lead to 2 points with 55 seconds left after a 3-pointer from Collins. On the next play, Pfeiffer's Savoy would get into the paint and score a huge layup while being fouled. Savoy would convert the three-point play to push the lead back to 5. The Falcons would go 4-4 from the free throw line in the final seconds to conserve the victory.
For the game, Pfeiffer shot a scorching 53% from the field and 39% from the 3-point arc. The Falcons forced 18 turnovers, including 14 steals which led to 17 points off the turnovers.
The men will return to Merner Gym Monday night, January 31
st, as the look to take on Mary Washington. Tip-off will be at 7:00 p.m.
