Pfeiffer Women Down William Peace

Raleigh, N.C (January 26, 2022) – For the second night in a row the Pfeiffer women's basketball team beat conference foe William Peace. The Falcons (8-11, 4-7 USA South) would use a strong third quarter to secure the win, 75-65.

Tanaeshea Ellison followed up her stellar performance from Tuesday, to lead a balanced scoring attack from Pfeiffer, with 14 points and 3 steals. Twelve different Falcons would find the score sheet on the night.

Freshman Brittany Mills scored double figures for the second time in her career, adding 10 points. Mills also grabbed 8 rebounds, her highest total for this season. Senior Brina Bentley also grabbed 8 rebounds tying her with Mills for the most on the night.

The Pacers (3-13, 2-8 USA South) were led in scoring by Pamela Mock who knocked down 13 points and pulled in 9 rebounds. Stormie Brown added 10 points and 5 steals.
The first quarter saw the Falcons jump out to a 14-6 lead before the Pacers would close out the quarter on a 8-2 run to end tied 16-16.

From there Pfeiffer would outscore William Peace 45-21, to take a commanding 24 point lead heading into the fourth quarter. In the second quarter the Falcons would go on a 14-0 run that broke a 17-17 tie. Pfeiffer would go on and close out the last 5 minutes of the third quarter on a 15-3 run to push the lead to 24 points. The Falcons forced 18 turnovers in the two decisive quarters.

On the night, the Falcons would shoot 35% from the field and shoot 75% from the free throw line. The defense forced 31 turnovers on the night which led to 30 points. Pfeiffer would grab 20 offensive rebounds that produced 17 second-chance points.

The Pfeiffer women will be back in action Saturday, January 29th at Merner Gymnasium, as they host Southern Virginia for a conference matchup. The game is slated to tip-off at 2:00 PM.
